Glowroom turns ordinary (SDR) photos into true HDR photos that glow on modern displays — by synthesizing a real HDR gain map, not a filter. It also relights photos that already have HDR, and includes a full adjustment studio.
Pick any photo and the app builds a genuine HDR gain map for it — the same mechanism iPhone cameras use — so it earns the HDR treatment in Photos and glows on HDR displays. Four styles (Balanced, Dramatic, Punch, Airy) with a strength control.
Photos that already carry a gain map can be built on: strengthen or soften their existing glow with a single centered control.
Auto enhance with an adjustable amount, a Photoshop-style Levels histogram with draggable black/mid/white handles, plus Exposure, Contrast, Midtones, Highlights, Shadows, Saturation, Clarity, Dehaze, Sharpness, Temperature, Tint, and Vignette.
Scans your library (on-device) for photos without HDR — filter by year, device, and screenshots, then work through them. Pro can collect them into an “SDR Photos” album.
Save as a new photo, or update the original in place — reversibly, so you can always Revert to Original in the Photos app. Also works directly inside Photos via the editing extension.
HDR needs an HDR-capable screen (iPhone 11 or later, most recent iPads/Macs), and iOS disables HDR display in Low Power Mode — turn it off to see the effect. The app shows a notice when Low Power Mode is blocking HDR.
